Philosophy

My work as a psychoanalyst is deeply informed by my PhD in Linguistics, a field which, like psychoanalysis, explores how language shapes our inner world and forms our self-understanding. I also recognize how early relationships influence who we become and how we relate to others, serving as the roadmap through which we learn to navigate life.

My approach is primarily psychoanalytic in that I pay close attention to the unconscious. I listen closely to what is spoken and what remains unspoken, helping uncover hidden emotions, recurring patterns and inner conflicts that may stand in the way of a sense of vitality, connection and purpose. I approach this work with curiosity and care, opening space for the many states of the self to unfold and be understood. I consider the therapeutic relationship an integral part of the healing process. Together, we work to change the narrative of your life in ways that lead to fulfillment and growth.

Through my training and experience, I’ve come to recognize trauma’s lasting impact as it resides in depression, eating disorders and relationship issues among others. I understand that trauma exists on a spectrum. While some events are clearly life-altering, smaller, accumulated experiences can also profoundly shape how we engage with the world. My focus is on helping you process past experiences, develop coping mechanisms, regain stability and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.

Beyond my clinical experience, my background in academia and business gives me insight into the pressures of high-stakes industries, creative fields and leadership roles. I understand the self-doubt, uncertainty and pressure that often accompany these roles as well as the challenge of balancing a demanding career with personal well-being and family life. I bring this awareness into the therapeutic space as we navigate these complexities together.

I provide an affirming and welcoming space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and approach issues of gender and sexuality with openness and respect. I am also especially attuned to the experiences of expatriation, intercultural relationships and first-generation immigrants navigating questions of belonging and identity.
