Couples Therapy

Relationships stir our deepest feelings — our hopes, fears and long-held patterns of connection. Partners bring their own histories and ways of seeking closeness and over time these differences can create distance, misunderstandings, or recurring conflicts that feel hard to change.

When couples struggle, the issue is usually not one person, but the dynamic between them. Cycles of pursuing and withdrawing, silence and protest, often reflect each partner’s effort to be understood while protecting themselves from vulnerability. Couples therapy helps you pause these patterns and see each other with fresh perspective — as two individuals with unique needs and emotional worlds. In this space, deeper understanding and repair become possible.

Grounded in a psychoanalytic and relational approach, I help partners explore how past experiences and unconscious expectations shape their interactions today. As each person becomes more aware of their emotional responses and the impact they have on their partner, connection can strengthen and conflict often softens.

An Integrated Approach

Alongside psychoanalytic work, I draw from systemic couples therapy to understand how family history, culture and shared environments influence the relationship. I also incorporate selected tools from the Gottman Method to support clearer communication, healthier conflict resolution and stronger emotional attunement. These practical strategies complement the deeper exploration.

The Process

We begin by clarifying what brings you in and what each of you hopes will feel different. Together, we slow down moments of tension or confusion to uncover the emotions and meanings beneath them. Over time, partners build greater empathy, awareness and responsiveness - creating a safer, more resilient bond.

Whether you're in crisis, healing after a rupture, or wanting to deepen intimacy, couples therapy offers a grounded, compassionate space to understand each other more fully and strengthen your connection.
